Welcome to the return of old-school
sword & sorcery fantasy literature.
Book One
My debut novella about Noa, a young vrykan (a barbaric humanoid race of demi-giants), who somehow awakens after being killed during a rite of passage. After being wrongfully convicted and sentenced to exile from the frozen wastelands, he is killed yet again. He awakens in what seems to be an arena with only female prisoners as combatants. as he struggles to find his bearings, learn about the other world he visits every time he dies, and master the art of embering (this world's magic system), he discovers nothing is as it seems, not even the current time period. Not to mention the owner of the arena seems to hate him personally, and wants nothing more than his permanent death.
Book Two
The conclusion to Noa's story as he trains to survive the arena with only female prisoners as combatants. He struggles to find his bearings, learn about the other world he visits every time he dies, and master the art of embering (this world's magic system). He discovers nothing is as it seems, not even the current time period, not to mention the owner of the arena seems to hate him personally, and wants nothing more than his permanent death.
Why sword & sorcery?
The novels that got me into fantasy were the Conan novellas written by Robert E. Howard and L. Sprague de Camp.
This was the birth of sword and sorcery fantasy.
Stories such as these were purchased less often as the years passed and as other
genres grew in popularity.
But the genre was never lost in me.
In fact, when someone refers to fantasy, in my mind, sword and sorcery is the
definition. I learned through three years of querying that the reason for rejection was not my writing. several expert opinions revealed it was for the lack of sales potential.
I know there are many people out there whose favorite novel genre is sword and sorcery fantasy. It is to you, my fellow fans, that I dedicate these novellas.
My reason for publishing these in novella form, is an attempt to spark a love of reading in those less partial to fantasy; forty-thousand words being easier to swallow than a traditional hundred-thousand word fantasy epic.
